Remodeling Is A Process and We Can Help

In all probability you arrived here hoping to see the perfect kitchen you want for your home and just wanted to be able to check a box and push a button so tomorrow a crew would show up and start the project. Then after visiting a few sites it begins to dawn on you that it just isn't going to happen that way and the odds are pretty low that you won't even finish up the evening with a comfortable guess of the time and cost of the project you want done.

For those of you who are already aware of the preliminary steps to be taken when looking to contract out a project for remodeling a room in your house, please feel free to skip ahead to additional considerations specific to Kitchen or Bathroom projects or if you feel you have all the preliminary information you require then move ahead to our Products page to see samples of our closest vendors products or our Photo Gallery to see before and after samples of our work.

For those of you who are just starting to understand the basics of hiring a contractor to fulfill a remodeling project, please continue on.

The first step to make your project a reality is to find a quality contractor you feel understands what you want done and knows all the details required to get it done, who is fully qualified to complete the project and offers a price that meets your budget. American Priority Home Improvements is a fully bonded and technically qualified contractor eager to make your project a reality.

All quality contractors require an initial meeting to review the site, take measurements and allow you select products (i.e. cabinets, flooring, appliances, etc) needed to complete the project. Some contractors will charge for this meeting (normally deducted from the total price of the project if performed by that contractor) and some do not. American Priority Home Improvements does not.
If you are planning on soliciting bids from multiple contractors it will be best to prepare your own written set of specifications so all the contractors are playing on a level playing field. Some responses may be more innovative than others and therefore will be more or less expensive, but all should be evaluated on proposals using the same information.
After negotiating the details and signing the contract, the rest of the project is mostly in the hands of your contractor. You should have an estimated time line for the project which includes the following milestones:

  • Ordering Materials.
  • Applying for Necessary Permits.
  • Materials delivered and inspected.
  • Remove existing components as specified.
  • Make any additional modifications required.
  • Rough in of plumbing and electrical
    (Including necessary permit inspections).
  • Repair or patch any drywall.
  • Install cabinetry and/or fixtures.
  • Complete electrical and plumbing.
  • Clean up of site area.
  • Final walk through.

Generally speaking, the above is the process for taking a remodeling project from inception to reality. Feel free to print this page as a reminder of the things that need to be done to complete a successful remodeling project.

And now please feel free to move on to additional considerations specific to Kitchen or Bathroom projects or if you feel you have all the preliminary information you require then move ahead to our Products page to see samples of our closest vendors products or our Photo Gallery to see before and after samples of our work.
